Aspendos Aqueduct

A Roman aqueduct stretching approximately 17 km to supply the ancient city of Aspendos in Pamphylia, built in the early 2nd century AD. Its final 1.7 km feature a remarkable triple inverted siphon system with over 3,000 perforated limestone pipe blocks sealed with lime and olive oil. Two hydraulic pressure towers, originally about 40 m tall, rank among the highest Roman constructions and managed water pressure across a 55-metre-deep valley crossing.
