Península de Kola

The Kola Peninsula in northwestern Russia contains the significant Bronze Age burial site of Bolshoy Oleni Ostrov (Big Reindeer Island), located on an island in Lake Lovozero. Radiocarbon dating places burials to approximately 1735-1538 cal BC. Ancient DNA analysis revealed the population carried higher proportions of Siberian ancestry than most contemporaneous European groups, with Y-haplogroup N1a linking them to modern Uralic-speaking peoples. Ceramics from the site show similarities to Neolithic pottery from Yakutia and Chukotka, suggesting westward migration along forest-tundra zones during the Bronze Age.
