The so-called Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun is Visocica Hill overlooking Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, claimed since 2005 by businessman Semir Osmanagic to be the largest ancient pyramid on Earth. The hill is composed of Miocene-era sedimentary layers deposited 5-23 million years ago in an ancient lake system. Geologists identify it as a natural flatiron formation. The site once held the medieval Bosnian royal fortress of Visoki. Seven leading European archaeologists issued a declaration calling the pyramid project "a cruel hoax" with "no place in the world of genuine science," warning it was damaging real archaeological heritage.
