Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon

The so-called Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon is Pljesevica Hill, a 350-foot natural formation bordering the town of Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Named by Semir Osmanagic in 2005 as part of his pseudoarchaeological pyramid claims, the hill is composed of layers of sandstone, clay, mudstone, and siltstone deposited in an ancient lake system during the Miocene (5-23 million years ago). Excavations revealed only cracked sandstone plates separated by silt and clay layers -- consistent with natural geology, not construction. Scientists have identified the formation as a flatiron, and the European Association of Archaeologists has denounced the claims.
