Tongeren, in Limburg province, is Belgium's oldest town [1]. It was the only Roman administrative capital within modern Belgium's borders, known as Atuatuca Tungrorum [1]. The settlement served as the administrative centre of the Civitas Tungrorum district and was inhabited by the Tungri tribe [1].
