Afonso Henriques born 1109, son of Henry of Burgundy and Teresa of León. Teresa was an illegitimate daughter of King Alfonso VI of León and Castile. At around 19, he defeated his mother's forces and declared independence. With roughly 300 men he defeated a larger Moorish army at the Battle of Ourique. The future first king of Portugal. ⚔️
