Waithali

Waithali was the capital of the Waithali Kingdom in northern Rakhine State, Myanmar, from 370 to 818 AD[1]. Located approximately 70 km northeast of Sittwe, the ruined settlement sits east of Ram Chaung, a tributary of the Kaladan River, in a hilly locale[1]. Like its predecessor Dhanyawadi, the former capital has fallen into ruin and is now largely deserted, with only a few temples and traces of the old city wall remaining[1]. The site is about an hour's bus ride from Mrauk U[1].
