Nyaung-gan

Nyaung-gan is a Bronze Age necropolis in central Myanmar, representing the first archaeological site in the country with confirmed Bronze Age artefacts[1]. Excavations in 1998–1999 revealed burials containing pottery filled with animal bones, beads, bronze spear points, terracotta objects, and jewelry[1]. The absence of iron at the site provides a critical chronological marker, establishing the necropolis within the Bronze Age timeframe[1]. Skeletons were left in situ and a museum was constructed around them[1].
