Oudong is a former royal capital of the post-Angkorian period (1618–1863) located at the foothill of Phnom Oudong (Phnom Preah Reach Troap) in present-day Phsar Daek Commune, Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia, about 35 km northwest of Phnom Penh via National Road No. 5 [1]. It served as Cambodia's royal residence and capital for nearly 250 years until 1866 [1]. The prominent bisected mountain features a monumental royal necropolis containing the remains of sovereigns from several centuries [1].
