Recent LiDAR survey reveals previously unknown Maya city in southern Yucatan

Extensive LiDAR surveys conducted in the southern Yucatan in late previous year revealed an entirely new Maya city that had never been documented or visited by archaeologists. The discovery was located south of Cody's expedition site, raising researchers' suspicion that much more of the Yucatan may have been scanned during these surveys. The data from these surveys has reportedly not been fully published or made available to the public.
