The Trilithon stones at Baalbek are among the largest ancient megaliths ever moved by humans. These massive stones are the largest, third largest, and tied-fifth largest stones ever quarried, with each weighing over 750 tons. The stones stand about 19 meters (62 feet) high—roughly the height of a 6'2" person—and fit together with tight seams. They form the foundation of the Jupiter Baal Temple complex. Intriguingly, similar megalithic construction techniques appear at sites in South America, including Tiwanaku in Bolivia and Caral in Peru.
