Well-preserved Neolithic court tomb (4000-2500 BC) on the southern slope of Ballymacdermot Mountain in County Armagh, 3.2 km outside Newry. Known locally as The Fairy Ring, legend held that music could be heard on certain nights when fairies danced there. A 6 m diameter court leads to a 7 m long gallery divided into three chambers, enclosed by a cairn nearly 30 m long. First excavated by John Bell in 1816 and officially explored in 1962, when cremated human bone was recovered. Located near other Neolithic monuments including Ballykeel Dolmen and Clontigora Cairn.
