Ballyalton Court Cairn

Ballyalton Court Cairn is a Neolithic court tomb situated 0.8 km from Ballyalton village, approximately 3.6 km east of Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland [1] [2] [3]. It is one of approximately 400 court tombs found primarily in northern Ireland, representing a distinctive class of megalithic chambered graves [3] [4] [5]. Archaeological excavations revealed human bones, flint implements, and a distinctive style of pottery now known as Ballyalton bowls [2] [4] [6].
