Guayabo National Monument

Guayabo National Monument is a pre-Columbian archaeological site in Cartago Province, Costa Rica, on the southern slope of Turrialba Volcano[1]. Covering 2.3 square kilometres, the monument features massive carved stone pillars and cobblestone roads, representing one of the earliest urban settlements in Costa Rica[1]. Only a small portion has been excavated, with the site surrounded by lush rainforest[1].
