Ingá Stone

The Ingá Stone is a large petroglyph site in northeastern Brazil, located in the middle of the Ingá River near the city of Ingá, 96 km from João Pessoa in Paraíba State [1]. It is a gneiss rock formation covering approximately 250 sq m, featuring a vertical wall 46 m long and 3.8 m high with numerous carved symbols in low relief [1]. The glyphs depict animals, fruits, and astronomical features including representations of Orion and the Milky Way [1]. Also called Itacoatiara do Ingá, meaning 'stone' in Tupi language [1].
