Talgua Cave, nicknamed "The Cave of the Glowing Skulls," is located in the Olancho Valley near Catacamas in northeastern Honduras[1]. The name comes from calcite deposits on ancient skeletal remains that reflect light dramatically[1]. It ranks among the most extensive Early to Middle Pre-Classic ossuary cave sites in Mesoamerica, showing connections to nearby Maya societies[1]. The site provides crucial evidence of cultural links between Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica and the Isthmo-Colombian Area extending into northern South America[1].
