The 2.7 km Avenue of Sphinxes connected Karnak Temple to Luxor Temple — lined with ram-headed sphinxes (criosphinxes). The temples align with the solstice sunrise. Restoration work was completed and the avenue reopened in 2021, recreating this grand processional route.
