Researcher Jeremy Naydler offers a fascinating reinterpretation of Egyptian Pyramid Texts. Rather than describing the afterlife, he argues they depict the pharaoh's out-of-body shamanic experiences performed during life on behalf of his people. Under this reading, pyramids become ritual spaces for living journeys, not tombs for the dead.
