Underwater ruins of an ancient castle were discovered in Lake Van, Turkey. The ruins, dating to the Iron Age Urartian period, were found during underwater excavations led by Van Yüzüncü Yıl University researchers. The discovery was announced in November 2017. LiveScience later noted the original viral story contained inaccuracies and unverified claims. The ruins include a fortress-like structure and date to the Urartian civilization period, approximately 3,000 years old.
