Based on geometric analysis of the Dream Stele by Italian researcher Damiano Pieracci, researchers targeted a debris mound in the Western Cemetery. The 15-meter-high mound, accumulated from 1980s–1990s excavations, showed 100% geometric correlation when pyramid positions were reversed. The scan revealed three main shafts descending below ground, apparently correlating to shafts in the known Sphinx.
