For the first time since the Middle Kingdom, researchers have exposed the foundation of the upper level of the labyrinth temple at Hawara. Greek and Roman houses were later built directly atop the leveled foundation. The site suffered heavily from quarrying, including stones reused for a 19th-century railway.
